古希臘、古羅馬倡導(dǎo)的博雅教育(Liberal Education),旨在傳授廣博的知識,培養(yǎng)獨(dú)立完善的人格和優(yōu)雅的氣質(zhì),使人不僅獲得專業(yè)技能,而且陶冶品學(xué)才識,成為完全的人。與之相輝映,中華文化傳統(tǒng)如《論語》之 “子曰:君子不器”,以及《大學(xué)》之“大學(xué)之道,在明明德,在親民,在止于至善”,也強(qiáng)調(diào)人應(yīng)該有完善的人格,不能像器具一樣,只滿足某一種用途。
《博雅英語》作為北京大學(xué)教材建設(shè)委員會設(shè)立的大學(xué)英語教材改革項(xiàng)目,正是要達(dá)到這樣的目的,將大學(xué)英語課程的工具性和人文性有機(jī)統(tǒng)一,使之作為高等學(xué)校人文教育的一部分,體現(xiàn)高等教育區(qū)別于基礎(chǔ)教育的特點(diǎn),以教材的思想性帶動語言學(xué)習(xí),不僅增強(qiáng)學(xué)生的英語綜合應(yīng)用能力和自主學(xué)習(xí)能力,而且發(fā)展學(xué)生的跨文化交際能力和批判性思維能力。
《博雅英語》力圖達(dá)到經(jīng)典與時(shí)代的結(jié)合、西方文化與中華文化的互動、人文素養(yǎng)與科學(xué)精神的交融,彰顯教育的根本——立德樹人、使學(xué)生在批判性的英語學(xué)習(xí)中,吸收優(yōu)秀的文化、觀念和正確的價(jià)值觀,培養(yǎng)跨文化國際視野和中國情懷,樹立文化自覺和文化自信,未來成為中外文化交流及“講好中國故事,傳播好中國聲音,闡釋好中國特色”的重要力量。

李淑靜,北京大學(xué)外國語學(xué)院黨委書記,2013-2017年及2018-2022年教育部高等學(xué)校大學(xué)外語教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會委員,全國高等院校研究生英語教學(xué)研究會副會長,北京市高教學(xué)會研究生英語教學(xué)研究分會副理事長,北京市大學(xué)生英語演講大賽專家委員會委員。長期從事研究生英語、大學(xué)英語教學(xué),曾講授“研究生英語聽說”“研究生英語讀寫”“研究生英語報(bào)刊選讀“”國際交流英語視聽說”“大學(xué)英語綜合課程”“英美報(bào)刊選讀”“博雅英語閱讀”等課程,主編《世界文化之旅》(高等教育出版社,2017/3),《博雅英語》(北京大學(xué)出版社,2015/9),《國際交流英語視聽說》(外語教學(xué)與研究出版社,2013/8),《專業(yè)碩士研究生英語》(北京大學(xué)出版社,2007/3),《專業(yè)碩士研究生英語自學(xué)手冊》(北京大學(xué)出版社,2008/2)等教材。
