鐘揚是新時代中國科技標志性人物，他忠于祖國奉獻人民、不懈探索追求的杰出科學(xué)家，是立德樹人、教書育人的優(yōu)秀教師，也是自覺踐行社會主義核心價值觀的先鋒模范。鐘揚堅持十幾年援藏，只為填補西藏的生態(tài)學(xué)植物學(xué)空白，為帶出一支留得下的學(xué)術(shù)隊伍……對于生命健康風(fēng)險、物質(zhì)生活簡陋、家庭疏于照顧、學(xué)術(shù)成果顯示等等，他都置諸腦后，用53歲的生命，做了別人100年才能做出的事情，直到以身殉職。他的學(xué)術(shù)人生以“持久的熱情和長期的投入”，撒下了彌足珍貴的“種子”。
