《英美小說與電影》（第二版）由上下篇八個單元組成，上篇介紹四位英國作家及其代表作；下篇介紹四位美國作家及其代表作。所選作家和作品都是英美文學史上影響廣泛，英語專業(yè)必讀的作家作品，并有觀賞性較強的相應電影。每個單元包括作家作品介紹、小說選讀以及多種練習。小說選讀除了常見的章節(jié)選讀外，還有從小說中選出的與電影重要場景相關的段落，以及可以在講解或觀賞電影時作為參考的重要引語和段落選讀。
第二版對第一版學習者在閱讀中遇到的難點和問題給予了一一解答，大幅增加釋義和注釋，增加有助理解的小說人物介紹和選讀，調(diào)整部分練習；對大學英語四級詞匯中的積極詞匯及超四級詞匯仍采用漢譯旁注；對需要較多解釋的知識點用尾注，在尾注中增加了文學和文化知識的介紹；并把在教材中多次出現(xiàn)的生詞（大多是六級和托福詞匯）做成詞匯表附在教材后。第二版更適合不同級別的英美文學愛好者學習使用。

張桂珍，北京大學外國語學院英語系副教授，長期從事大學英語教學及小說電影類專題課教學與研究。在國內(nèi)期刊發(fā)表相關論文數(shù)十篇，主編《英美小說與電影》《英美戲劇與電影》，參與編寫的教材有《大學英語讀寫譯》等。
