全球化背景下，向世界講好中國故事，且正確講述中國故事，推動(dòng)中國文化走出去，讓世界了解中國，已成為當(dāng)代中國的國家戰(zhàn)略。中國古典文學(xué)英譯是這一戰(zhàn)略的重要組成部分。中國古典詩詞英譯，可以幫助外國讀者進(jìn)一步了解中國文學(xué)悠久的傳統(tǒng)和輝煌成就，從而對(duì)中國文化有更全面、更深刻的了解和認(rèn)識(shí)，繼而實(shí)現(xiàn)文明互鑒和民心相通。
本書選擇了一百首中國歷代經(jīng)典詩、詞、小令以及銘文，它們大多是中國人耳熟能詳、出口可誦的文章。其中三件作品（劉禹錫的《陋室銘》、楊慎的《臨江仙•滾滾長江東逝水》、羅庸的《西南聯(lián)大校歌》）的入選使本書成為別具特色的漢詩英譯選集。在充分研究、考證的基礎(chǔ)上，譯者力求“知詩真意，傳其真意；知詩神韻，傳其神韻”，并用英文把中國經(jīng)典詩詞的意象、意境和神韻之美等表達(dá)出來。譯者愛詩、寫詩，以詩人之心譯詩，其譯詩自得原詩之妙。
尹紹東，現(xiàn)為云南師范大學(xué)外國語學(xué)院教師。耕耘教壇二十余載，淡泊寧靜，獨(dú)鐘詩詞翻譯，對(duì)許多中國古典詩詞有自己的獨(dú)到見解和翻譯。近年來主要出版物包括兩部譯著：苗族長篇敘事詩《金笛》、瀕危語言學(xué)術(shù)著作《撒都語研究》（合譯）；一部個(gè)人詩集：《清風(fēng)無語》；兩部英語專業(yè)精讀教材（合編），及多篇學(xué)術(shù)文章。
