胡英男，1934年6月生。湖北省英山縣人。1953年畢業(yè)于華東化工學(xué)院（現(xiàn)為華東理工大學(xué)），留校后歷任物理化學(xué)助教、講師、副教授、教授、博士生導(dǎo)師。曾任教育部工科化學(xué)課程教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)主任委員，中國(guó)化工學(xué)會(huì)副理事長(zhǎng)。現(xiàn)兼任《化工學(xué)報(bào)》、《化學(xué)學(xué)報(bào)》、《FluidPhaseEquilibria》編委。1985年被評(píng)為上海市勞動(dòng)模范。1986年國(guó)家人事部授予有突出貢獻(xiàn)中青年專家稱號(hào)。1993年當(dāng)選中國(guó)科學(xué)院院士。長(zhǎng)期從事物理化學(xué)教學(xué)和分子熱力學(xué)研究。主編《物理化學(xué)》第1，2，3，4，5版教材，出版《流體的分子熱力學(xué)》、《應(yīng)用統(tǒng)計(jì)力學(xué)》、《現(xiàn)代化工熱力學(xué)》、《物理化學(xué)參考》等專著。曾獲國(guó)家級(jí)教學(xué)成果一等獎(jiǎng)和二等獎(jiǎng)、全國(guó)優(yōu)秀科技圖書二等獎(jiǎng)、全國(guó)普通高等學(xué)校優(yōu)秀教材一等獎(jiǎng)、普通高等學(xué)校優(yōu)秀教材全國(guó)優(yōu)秀獎(jiǎng)、寶鋼優(yōu)秀教師特等獎(jiǎng)、香港柏寧頓教育基金會(huì)孺子牛金球獎(jiǎng)，以及國(guó)家教委科學(xué)技術(shù)進(jìn)步二等獎(jiǎng)（3次）、教育部科學(xué)技術(shù)進(jìn)步一等獎(jiǎng)、上海市科學(xué)技術(shù)進(jìn)步二等獎(jiǎng)、何梁何利基金科學(xué)與技術(shù)進(jìn)步獎(jiǎng)（化學(xué)獎(jiǎng)）等多項(xiàng)獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)。
